The pigeons of the phenomenal Ludo Claessens performed at an exceptional level in the 1980s and ‘90s, which is when he managed to dominate the young bird classics.
Ludo Claessens managed to dominate the national race from Orléans, one of the most important races in The Netherlands. This made him the most successful Oréans fancier ever. 1991 was his strongest season, with a total of 34 basketed young birds. He took the five first prizes in Rayon 1B that season and he had 33 young birds in the national results. Ludo overpowered his opponents in the race from Chatêauroux as well, which took place two weeks later. His biggest strength is his drive to win and we would like to show you some of his biggest victories with the young birds from Orléans, just to illustrate how strong he was at the time:

His total auction in 2008 brought a sudden end to an impressive career but his success story continued. Several renowned fanciers from Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands were willing to safeguard the noble pigeon breed created by grandmaster Ludo Claessens. In the Netherlands, his pigeons moved to the lofts of Sakis Minovgioudis (Alblasserdam, NL), Wout Spierings (Waalwijk, NL) and Rens van der Zijde (Anna Paulowna, NL).


NL03-0375941 Jonge Supercrack, superkweker

Jonge Supercrack NL03-0375941 is one of the pigeons that continue to play a key role at international level. This proven breeding and racing pigeon is a son of NL94-9410369 Supercrack 69, which won a 1st Etampes 3,211 p. (fastest of 70,000 p.) and a 1st Provins 2,231 p. (fastest of all 25,000 p.). This is the list of achievements of Jonge Supercrack:

1st Provincial R1 Orléans 2003 – 1,853 p.
1st Provincial R1 Orléans 2004 – 2,672 p.
He then developed into an outstanding breeder, with his youngsters winning a 1st, 2nd and 3rd national from Orléans.

Sakis Minovgioudis
Supercrack 69 and his son Jonge Supercrack both play a prominent role in the career of Sakis Minovgioudis, who purchased the NL03-1272712 Meeuwke 12 at the total auction of Ludo Claessens in 2003. He then invested in two sons of Jonge Supercrack as well, including NL07-1936832 Bont Beauty. The son of Bont Beauty is NL02-0271840 Kirsty, winner of a 1st Orléans 8,072 p. in 2002. The second son of Jonge Supercrack that came to his loft is NL08-1660055 Supercracks Talent, from a pairing with Jonge Supercrack’s own dam NL02-0271883 Schoon Donker 83. Click here for the pedigree of Supercracks Talent. These are three top of the class breeding pigeons bred by grandmaster Ludo Claessens. Meeuwke 12 has bred no less than 15 first prize winners. Sakis praises Ludo’s race strategies as well as his way of pairing and breeding pigeons. As a good friend of Ludo, Sakis has been able to use pigeons from Ludo’s breeding team from 1995.

Wout Spierings
This Jonge Supercrack has also had its impact on the loft Wout Spierings, who managed to win another teletext prize in 2013, the first since his comeback. The NL13-3331106 finished seventh in the NPO race from Orléans against 6,840 pigeons and the sire of this talented racing bird is NL10-3052852 New Supercrack. The sire of New Supercrack is BE09-4139557 Crack Vedetje, a son of Jonge Supercrack. The dam of New Supercrack is a sister of Meeuwke 12 (Sakis Minovgioudis) and a daughter of Supercrack 69 x Golden White. Click here for the pedigree of NL13-3331106.
