Welcoming 2024, we have an inspiring guest on Career Conversations, Billie Savage (President, Board of Directors at Stichting Stadsduivenhulp, Yoga Teacher & Personal Trainer).

Billie, an American national, has a background of two decades working in fitness, rehabilitation and yoga instruction.
Billie started doing activism for animals and for the environment in 2015 and did volunteer work in seven countries, including the founding of Animal Rebellion (a sister group to Extinction Rebellion) in the Netherlands.

In 2020 Billie noticed one particular area of animal welfare was very lacking in public attention: that of feral city pigeons. Billie started working as a pigeon rescuer and “rehabber”, and founded Stichting Stadsduivenhulp, a non-profit based in the Netherlands.

Currently, Billie works closely with specialist veterinarians, and runs a mini-sanctuary for disabled pigeons out of her home.

In 2024 Billie will be moving to Portugal to build a pigeon sanctuary.

The conversation with Billie is sure to be an uplifting one.
