Pigeon keeping is more than just a hobby—it’s a centuries-old tradition, especially in Pakistan, where pigeon-flying culture thrives with high-flyers and intense rooftop competitions.

This fascinating hobby reached new heights when New Kim, a Belgian homing pigeon, made history by selling for $1.9 million, setting a world record in pigeon racing.

Pigeons have also played heroic roles in wartime, such as Cher Ami, who saved over 200 soldiers during WWI. In recognition of this remarkable act, Cher Ami was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Croix de Guerre, becoming one of the first widely recognized "Hero Pigeons," celebrated across the country. Another pigeon, G.I. Joe, prevented a bombing during WWII and earned the prestigious Dickin Medal for its bravery.

Join Nukta’s Senior producer, Muhammad Wasi, as he takes us along to explore this vibrant scene, showcasing racing pigeons and their passionate owners.
