As a cycling fan, Gaby had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the successful Mapei professional team during the Paris-Tours classic in the late 1990s.

He was especially fascinated by the way things were going in terms of nutrition and supervision. The amounts of pasta that the riders were served in combination with little meat and other proteins made him think.

At the end of 1998, he approached Staf Theeuwes, our Technical Consultant at the time, with the idea of ​​an easily digestible and low-protein mixture (ie without peas), but rich in carbohydrates and fats. They found each other in this vision about feeding and the first tests with the racing teams were immediately a bull's eye. Together they are the pioneers of premium low-protein mixtures.
