Andreas Drapa used to be a regular tiler in a small town, breeding pigeons in his free time. Now he's Germanys wealthiest high-class racing pigeon breeder, a millionaire and business partner of the rich in China and Dubai where betting on the "little man’s racehorse" has become a very lucrative business. While more traditional breeders reject to make money with their pigeons, Drapa’s still aiming for more: He wants to belong to the powerful super rich.

HIGHFLYERS adopts an unusual perspective on the story of winners and losers in a game ruled by the new powers of global economy and reflects on the meaning of material wealth in the lives of different people around the world.

Lena Leonhardt (Director's Biography)
Born in 1987. She studied Directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and Ryerson University Toronto (Canada), from then on writing and directing several films. In 2016 she released her award winning documentary DOG SOLDIERS. In 2017 she became a member of the "Berlinale talents"-program. She lives in Stuttgart (Germany) and works as a director and writer.
