Inflation in the UK climbed to 2.6 per cent in November, solidifying expectations that the Bank of England will keep interest rates unchanged on Thursday.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that the rate of price growth in the UK economy increased from 2.3 per cent in October. Analysts had expected a rate of 2.6 per cent, while the Bank of England forecast a rate of 2.4 per cent.

It is the second month in a row that inflation has risen, pushing it further above the central bank’s target of 2 per cent and to the highest level since March.
