A suspected Chinese spy pigeon has been released from India after being held for months.

The pigeon was held for eight months after being captured near a port in Mumbai.

The reason for it being considered a spy pigeon was due to a message being written in Chinese on its wing.

Indian police suspected the bird may have been used to pass messages to Chinese intelligence agents.

It was released after it turned out to be a racing pigeon which had escaped from Taiwan.
