Here's a short update on the young racing pigeon that I rescued after it flew 70 miles away when first let out. I talk about what happens to feather growth when pigeons experience a major stress event. The molt is halted to divert all resources to only the essential functions of life. This halts growth of feathers. If the pigeon begins to recover the feather growth resumes but the feathers show the impact of the stress event through deformity.
