The Slovenian AviRings One Loft Race has been part of the schedule for a few years now, standing out due to its innovation, such as GPS tracking, young birds flown on the "door system," and they are also darkened, while participants can watch the lofts 24/7 via webcams—an exceptional level of transparency. What’s remarkable about this One Loft Race is that losses are consistently minimal! The official program began on August 4th with a 120 km race and concluded on September 21st with a 521 km final. A total of 1,264 pigeons started, and after a few challenging flights, the final was delayed several days due to bad weather. The pigeons had plenty of time to rest, which resulted in a beautifully smooth final race where nearly 1,000 pigeons made it back by the end of day two. The top 10 included pigeons from all over Europe, often of excellent pedigree. Finally, on October 1st, there was an extra final of 607 km, with 660 activated pigeons. This turned out to be an extremely tough race, where the strongest birds battled for nearly nine hours to secure their lead, and the field was significantly spread out—only 70 pigeons made it home on the first day.
